osx - Fix an m4v video that has lagging audio (audio and video out ...

Get yourself a copy of FFmpeg. See the bottom of this post on how to do that.

Whether the video lags behind the audio or vice-versa, it doesn't really matter. The basic command is as follows. We will pass the input twice, as can be seen by two -i options, then delay one input, and merge them back together.

ffmpeg -i in.flv -itsoffset offset -i in.flv -map 1:0 -map 0:1 -c copy out.flv

Here, offset is the delay in seconds, e.g. 1.5 or 0.35. This value has to be positive, so if your audio is lagging behind the video, we will have to offset the video. This is shown in the above example. Similarly, if the video is lagging behind the audio, we will have to offset the audio.

So, how do you choose whether to delay audio or video? Well, since we've delayed the whole in.flv, we'll just pick the audio or video streams and merge them with the original audio or video streams. This is done in the -map options.

Basically, map has two numbers. The one before the colon specifies the input file number (starting at 0), and the second number specifies the input file stream (also starting at 0).

So, to delay the audio, use the following two options:

  • -map 1:0 means: Take the first stream from the second input file, (video from the original file)
  • -map 0:1 means: Take the second stream from the first input file (audio from the delayed file)

Turn it around if you have to delay your video:

  • -map 0:0 means: Take the first stream from the first input file (video from the delayed file)
  • -map 1:1 means: Take the second stream from the second input file (audio from the original file)

Finally -c copy will simply tell FFmpeg to copy the video and audio bitstreams. This means that there will be no encoding process. This makes the command ultra-fast and you won't even lose any quality in the process. If, however, you run into synchronization errors, then you should leave out -c copyand let FFmpeg re-encode the input.

You can get the latest stable FFmpeg version through Homebrew.

  • Open a Terminal and enter:

    ruby -e "$(curl -fsSkL raw.github.com/mxcl/homebrew/go)"
  • See the installation requirements as well. You have to install the Commandline Tools for Xcode if you haven't. You will need an Apple ID for that.

  • Once Homebrew is installed, install FFmpeg:

    brew install ffmpeg
  • Once that is done, we can use FFmpeg to fix your video.

Fitness Training & MMA Training

You have decided to start on the path of a MMA fighter. You understand that this isn't just an easy achievement but will instead require years of learning and self-sacrifice. You will need some training irrespective of whether you are a trained fighter exploring the possibility of branching out or someone who has watched a MMA event on television and found it to be entertaining

You should start of by pinpointing a particular fight style to train in. Martial arts is incredibly diverse, so if you are thinking of beginning training, there is lots for your to choose from. Are you interested in boxing, Ju Jitsu, grappling, or any other type of martial arts? It is important that you research what you want to do, and what style if suited to your abilities and future goals. What your application of the training received will be ,depends on what type and structure of MMA training you decide to enroll in. MMA combat gear is a very important piece of MMA training that can literally be a life saver

You might want to have a look at this so that your training starts of on right foot. The most important attribute to take into training from day one, is first and foremost, your physical conditioning. Understand this is a very difficult MMA training style. Your body will have to withstand some abuse as you will be subjected to stretch, kicks, punches and twisting. After that, you absolutely need to have a sense of commitment that you will bring your training to its completion. You will find your self strengthening in all areas - physically, mentally and spiritually as you progress in your training and realize that you are able to accomplish something that takes so much effort and concentration.

You also need to take care picking out the right training facility. World over, you can find gyms and training centers meant for the purpose. Choosing a school or class that does not meet their needs,is one of the biggest mistakes new fighters make. it's important for you to be evenly matched during a training session for you to get the most out of it. You are setting yourself up for failure if you surround yourself with a roomful of black belt who you can't possibly compete against if you are just a beginner yourself.

MMA offers lots of excitement along with personal and spiritual reward. With the right sort of attitude, adequate training, and a great degree of personal motivation, and instruction, you will extremely pleased with your contribution to MMA.

What The Swedish Pirate Party Wants With Patents, Trademarks, And

0

Infopolicy ? Christian Engstr?m

Infopolicy ? Christian Engstr?m

This afternoon, I?ll make a presentation to a group of patent lawyers in Stockholm, with the title ?What does the Pirate Party want with Patents, Trademarks, and Copyright??. Here?s a rough summary of what I?m about to tell them, including a few links that will probably get mentioned.

Patents should be abolished as soon as possible. An increasing amount of research, predominantly in the United States, shows us that the patent system as a whole has a negative effect on society. It can be positive for specific actors (mostly pharma companies and patent trolls), but for society as a whole, the patent system is damaging to innovation, to competition, and to economic growth.

The study The Case Against Patents (25 pages) by Michele Boldrin and David Levine at Washington University in St Louis is a good read on our view of the patent system (summary here).

When it comes to pharmaceutical patents, we agree that it?s not feasible to abolish the patent system and hope that the market makes sure enough research just happens anyway. Therefore, we?d like to replace pharmaceutical patents with the system known internationally as delinkage. It means that pharmaceutical research is financed directly from the public coffers, with research results made freely available for anyone to use in any way, spurring a free competition between manufacturers of generic (non-patent-encumbered) drugs. This system would save at least half of the taxpayers? bill for pharmaceuticals, while at the same time channeling more money to research. As a positive side-effect, besides the savings, it would also save hundreds of thousands ? or millions ? of lives in the third world.

When it comes to patents in all other areas, we?re willing to listen to anybody and everybody who believes they can show that the patent system provides any kind of net positive effect to society in additional areas, but so far, nobody has been able to show such a net positive (with the exception of pharma). In every such case, the burden of proof is on those who argue for an introduction or continuation of these governmentally-sanctioned monopolies, and not on us who argue for their abolition.

Trademarks are basically good, as they primarily serve as consumer protection. If it says ?Coca-Cola? on the can, I know that The Coca-Cola Company guarantees its quality. If I am dissatisfied with the product, I know where I can go to complain, but if I like it, I also know where I can go to get more. This also gives the trademark system a long-term effect of rewarding good and honest companies. While this is a positive effect, the protection of consumers is the foundation and the most important.

In some countries, like France and Italy, the trademark rights have grown to also include punishments for consumers who buy counterfeit goods (either because they want to, or because they were fooled to). This is a bad development that we?re firmly against. The legitimacy of the trademark system comes from protecting consumers. Should it be distorted into legislation that punishes consumers, like patents and copyrights do, it would lose its legitimacy.

Compared to patents and copyrights, it seems that the trademark business has kept their house cleaner against degenerate subversion, and the trademark practices haven?t fallen for the same unhealthy expansion as the patent and copyright laws have. There have been a few upsetting cases of abuse or attempted abuse, like when Louis Vuitton tried to censor a Danish artist ?to protect its brand? (it?s likely they haven?t done anything more damaging to the brand in modern years), or when a guitar maker who got the phrase ?Born to Rock? registered as a trademark for guitars starts suing T-shirt vendors to ban them from printing the phrase at all, despite clearly not being used as a trademark in the latter case.

This type of abuse must be fought down, primarily by the industry itself, secondarily by the courts, and tertiarily by legislators if nothing else works. But the foundation of trademark law remains sound: forcing and rewarding honesty towards consumers.

Copyright must be reformed. We?d like to keep the copyright monopoly for commercial use (but with shorter, more sensible terms of protection). The bug problem is that copyright has expanded in the past 20 years, going from being something that only corporations needed to care about, into something that criminalizes the entire young generation (and more and more people who aren?t even particularly young anymore).

The Swedish Pirate Party wants to;

  • Legalize file-sharing and other non-commercial sharing of culture between private individuals, both up- and downloading. As a direct consequence, search engines like The Pirate Bay will also be legal, as nobody can be charged with ?aiding and abetting? an activity that is fully legal in itself (the file-sharing between private individuals).
  • At most 20 years of protection from the publication of a work. Among other things, this also solves the problem with orphan works and the ?black hole of the 20th century?.
  • Registration after five years. Rightsholders who want to keep using their commercial monopoly after the first five years must register their works, so that commercial users who want to pay for use know where they can get a license to do so. This also solves the problem with orphan works.
  • Sensible regulation for quotations, parodies, and remixes even when it comes to audio, video and more (today, you can only quote text ? Ed.), and a harmonization within the EU of exceptions to copyright (?exceptions and limitations?).
  • A ban on DRM (digital restriction mechanisms), or at a bare minimum, making it explicitly legal to break digital restriction mechanisms if needed for any use that is itself legal.

If we reform copyright law according to this proposal, it would solve 99% of the serious problems that today?s copyright causes, while at the same time, 99% of the business models that work today in the entertainment and cultural sectors would keep doing so if the companies would adapt ever so slightly to a new world.

It?s not just the Swedish Pirate Party that thinks copyright law should be reformed like this. Since one year back, it?s also the official position of the entire Green group in the European Parliament.

There?s more on this proposal for copyright reform in the book The Case For Copyright Reform, written by me and Rick Falkvinge, the founder of the Pirate Party. The book is available for a free download as an e-book, or available at-cost as a print-on-demand book, at copyrightreform.eu.

Nearly 35,000 Mainers affected by TD Bank security breach ...

Nearly 35,000 Mainers may have had their personal information ? including Social Security and bank account numbers ? compromised during TD Bank?s March security breach.

In a letter to the Maine attorney general?s office dated Oct. 5 and received Oct. 11, TD Bank?s chief privacy officer acknowledged that two computer data backup tapes went missing while they were being shipped to a TD Bank location. The letter said the tapes may have included not only names, addresses, Social Security numbers and bank account numbers, but also dates of birth and driver?s license numbers for 34,907 Mainers.

TD Bank?s notice to customers did not mention that dates of birth and driver?s license numbers may have been among the missing data. Both pieces of personal information can make identity theft easier.

The breach affects customers throughout TD Bank?s East Coast coverage area, from Florida to Maine. TD Bank spokeswoman Rebecca Acevedo has declined to say how many customers were affected overall, but the bank?s letter to the Maine attorney general?s office, which details the number of Maine customers affected, was obtained by the Sun Journal as a public document.

Although the breach occurred in March, TD Bank did not begin notifying customers until a couple of weeks ago. Acevedo said the bank held off as it conducted an internal investigation. That investigation is ongoing and the bank has contacted Massachusetts law enforcement, as well.

TD Bank officials say there was no indication the data had been misused.

Maine law requires companies to notify the state, as well as customers, of security breaches. TD Bank sent out notification letters Oct. 3 to affected Maine customers. Although letters continue to to be sent to customers in other states, all affected Maine customers should have been notified by now. Only affected customers got letters.

Some customers have complained that TD Bank should have told them sooner that their data was lost, putting them at risk of identity theft. It is unclear whether such a delay is allowed. Maine law permits businesses to conduct investigations before notifying customers of security breaches, but notifications must be made ?as expediently as possible and without unreasonable delay.?

Officials with the consumer protection arm of the attorney general?s office were unavailable for comment Thursday. That office could help gauge whether TD Bank?s notification was made expediently and ?without unreasonable delay.?

TD Bank has offered to transfer funds in affected accounts to new accounts and to provide affected adult customers with a year?s worth of free credit monitoring.

TD Bank has nearly 1,300 branches nationwide, including 54 in Maine.

China rejects US solar tariffs as protectionism

(AP) ? China demanded Thursday that Washington repeal steep tariffs on solar panels that Chinese producers fear will shut their equipment out of the American market.

The tariffs upheld Wednesday by the U.S. Commerce Department add to financial pressure on struggling Chinese solar panel manufacturers that are suffering heavy losses due to weak demand and a price-cutting war.

"The United States is inciting trade friction in new energy and sending a negative signal to the whole world about protectionism and obstructing the development of new energy development," Ministry of Commerce spokesman Shen Danyang said in a statement. It gave no indication whether Beijing might retaliate.

"We hope the U.S. side will correct its erroneous action with early termination of the trade remedy measures," Shen said.

The Commerce Department upheld charges of 18 percent to nearly 250 percent on Chinese solar panel producers to counter what it said was improper subsidies by Beijing to the industry. For some companies, charges are lower than preliminary tariffs announced in May.

A spokesman for one of China's biggest panel producers, Yingli Green Energy Holding Co., said tariffs of about 30 percent imposed on that company would make sales to the United States unprofitable. He said gross profit margins in the solar industry are about 10 percent.

"A tax rate of 30 percent is the same as 200 percent. Both of them mean the door is closed for exporting to the United States," said the spokesman, Wang Shuai. "No one does business to lose money."

Yingli and other leading Chinese manufacturers including Suntech Power Holdings Co. and Trina Solar Ltd. have rejected accusations they were selling goods at improperly low prices.

Foreign competitors complain Chinese solar manufacturers get improper government support in the form of low-cost access to land, bank loans and other resources. Beijing acknowledges giving research grants and tax breaks but says those are in line with its free-trade commitments and practices by other governments.

The dispute highlights tensions over whether China's government-dominated economy should be treated as a free market. Beijing has pressed the United States and Europe to officially grant such status, which would make it harder to bring some dumping and other complaints, but none of its major trading partners has agreed.

Trina Solar said earlier that solar cells or other components affected by the duties could be replaced with components from other countries for shipments to U.S. customers.

In Yingli's case, though, Wang said all of its manufacturing is in China, which means it cannot immediately replace U.S.-bound solar panels with products made elsewhere.

The tariffs come at a critical time for Chinese solar panel manufacturers, which have reported hundreds of millions of dollars in losses this year.

The Chinese solar panel industry grew rapidly over the past decade as Germany, Spain and some other countries promoted renewable energy with subsidies and low-cost loans.

China's communist leaders declared solar power, along with such fields as biotechnology and aerospace, a "strategic emerging industry" targeted for development as part of efforts to transform China from a low-wage country of farmers and factory workers into a creator of technology.

Hundreds of Chinese companies began producing solar panels, which flooded the market and drove down prices to unprofitable levels.

Companies also face possible European trade action.

In July, a group of 25 producers of solar gear including companies from Germany, Italy and Spain filed an anti-dumping complaint with the European Union.

The latest U.S. tariffs were imposed in response to a complaint by a group of companies led by Oregon-based SolarWorld, the largest U.S. maker of silicon solar cells and panels. Some American companies that opposed the probe warned China might retaliate against U.S. suppliers.

Chinese solar equipment manufacturers warned earlier that sanctions could result in a loss of American jobs because U.S. companies are both buyers of Chinese products and suppliers of materials. They said Chinese manufacturers spend some $2 billion a year to buy materials such as polysilicon from U.S. suppliers.

Beijing responded to the investigation by launching its own probe last November into whether U.S. government support for producers of wind, solar and other renewable energy technology is an improper trade barrier.

In August, the Commerce Ministry ruled that U.S. support for six clean energy projects violated free trade rules and called on Washington to stop but made no mention of possible penalties.

Spanish bailout dilemma sharpens

MADRID (AP) ? The Spanish government's dilemma over whether to request a European bailout has become more acute following a downgrade of the cash-strapped country's credit rating.

Standard & Poor's late Wednesday cut its rating on Spain's debt by two notches to BBB-, just a step above junk status, or non-investment grade. That could make it more expensive for the Spanish government to borrow money as it might scare some of its bond investors away.

The agency said it was concerned by the deepening economic recession, which has seen unemployment rise to nearly one in four and fueled social discontent. It also noted that the government's hesitation in requesting a European financial lifeline was "potentially raising the risks to Spain's rating."

Though S&P's warning may nudge the Spanish government to make a bailout request sooner rather than later, rival agency Moody's has indicated it may cut its rating for Spain in the event of a bailout request.

"It would appear that when it comes to the rating Spain is a bit between a rock and a hard place," said Gary Jenkins, managing director of Swordfish Research.

The Spanish government said the downgrade was unjustified but argued that it would have little, if any effect, on its plans to raise money in the money markets.

"The evaluation by Standard and Poor's caught us by surprise," Spain deputy Economy Minister Fernando Jimenez Latorre said Thursday. "We don't agree with its reasons."

Madrid's IBEX was the only major European stock index to drop on Thursday, albeit by a modest 0.2 percent.

The yield on the country's 10-year bond was more or less unchanged, just below 5.8 percent, as investors weighed up whether the country would tap a new facility from the European Central Bank.

Last month, the ECB announced a new plan to keep a lid on the borrowing costs of indebted countries like Spain. It said it would buy unlimited amounts of debt of struggling European countries. However, the governments first need to apply for a eurozone bailout and so far the Spain's has balked at the prospect.

Instead, the government led by Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has introduced a series of austerity and labor measures in a bid to bring down its deficit and convince investors it can manage its finances without outside help.

Though it has raised around 90 percent of the money it needs to service its debts in 2012, Spain will have to tap investors for around ?200 billion ($258 billion) in 2013.

"Not easy to raise that kind of money with that kind of rating when the economic data is likely to come in worse than government forecasts," said Swordfish's Jenkins.

Like many other countries in Europe, Spain is living way beyond its means. Its budget deficit is running at a little over 6 percent of gross domestic product, double the amount allowed by EU rules.

That is adding to Spain's public debt burden, which the government forecasts will rise to 80 percent of GDP this year from 69 percent last year. It projects it hitting 90 percent next.

Households are also struggling financially amid high unemployment and the implosion of a property bubble.

Earlier this week, the International Monetary Fund forecast that the Spanish economy would contract 1.3 percent next year, more than double the Spanish government's own prediction.

Rajoy on Wednesday said the country was making important reforms and that those, combined with Europe's efforst to increase economic integration, would prove the IMF wrong.

"If we follow that strategy ... we'll see that the reality turns out to be better than the forecasts," Rajoy said.

The prevailing view in the markets remains that Spain will have to request outside help, possibly after regional elections later this year, given the scale of the task in hand.

"With a large proportion of their funding for the year already completed we expect them to have sufficient funds to hold out until regional elections are out of the way later this year," said Elisabeth Afseth, an analyst at Investec.

She noted that Spain's bond redemption payments at the end of January may be uncomfortably costly if it does not tap the European financial aid program.

Christine Lagarde, the head of the IMF, this week voiced her concerns at the impact Europe's austerity drive was having on economic growth, both in the continent and globally. The IMF downgraded its global growth estimates for this year and next.

Spain, alongside many other European countries, has slashed spending and raised taxes to get a handle on its debts and to regain investors' confidence in its public finances.

This photo provided Oct. 9, 2012, by the Minnesota Department of Health shows shows vials of the injectable steroid product made by New England Compounding Center implicated in a fungal meningitis outbreak that were being shipped to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta from Minneapolis. About 17,700 single-dose vials of the steroid sent to 23 states have been recalled. The outbreak involves 10 states, including Minnesota. (AP Photo/Minnesota Department of Health)

Map shows states affected by the meningitis outbreak and those receiving suspected tainted medications.

Long before the current rash of fungal meningitis, the compounding pharmacy suspected in the outbreak settled a lawsuit alleging it produced a tainted shot that caused a man's death in 2004.

Earlier this summer, a separate pharmaceutical firm with common owners was accused of failing to separate sterile and non-sterile supplies. That pharmaceutical company was shut down Wednesday for inspections, the latest example of fallout from the growing outbreak.

Officials have identified Framingham, Mass., based-New England Compounding Center as the source of steroid shots suspected in the outbreak of rare fungal meningitis that has killed at least 12 people and made more than 130 others sick in 11 states.

Allegations of a shot tainted with a different form of meningitis were at the heart of a lawsuit filed against the company over the 2004 death. An 83-year-old man died about a year and a half after receiving a shot produced by the company.

Another drug company that has some of the same owners, Ameridose LLC, agreed to temporarily stop its compounding and manufacturing operations as a precaution while regulators inspect its facilities, but the measure is being done as a precaution, not because of evidence of contamination, officials said Wednesday. Ameridose, based in Westborough, Mass., was accused by a business customer this year of failing to separate sterile and non-sterile products in its warehouse.

Andrew Paven, a spokesman for both companies, said: "Ameridose is a separate entity from New England Compounding Center, with distinct operational management."

"We have separate production facilities, separate processes and operate at separate locations in different cities. Although there is common ownership, the two companies operate under separate registrations and different licensure," the statement from Paven said.

On Wednesday, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick said the New England Compounding Center may have misled regulators and done work beyond the scope of its state license. The company was licensed to fill specific prescriptions for specific patients but exceeded that, he said.

"What they were doing instead is making big batches and selling them out of state as a manufacturer would, and that is certainly outside of their state license," he said.

A company spokesman declined comment on Patrick's assertion beyond a statement that company officials are focused on cooperating with the investigation. The company has shut down operations and recalled the fungus-contaminated steroid.

A 2004 lawsuit filed in upstate New York's Monroe County claimed New England Compounding Center produced the shot that infected William Koch with bacterial meningitis at Rochester General Hospital on July 17, 2002. Koch died Feb. 28, 2004, at the age of 83.

The lawsuit said the shot was the source of Koch's meningitis, but did not explain how that determination was made.

Bacterial meningitis is contagious and much more common than the fungal meningitis involved in the current outbreak. Fungal meningitis is more difficult to catch, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The compounding pharmacy reached a settlement with Koch's widow in 2007 before the case went to trial, according to her lawyer Mark S. Nunn. He declined to elaborate Wednesday because the terms were confidential.

"Really all I can say is that the case settled prior to trial," Nunn said.

Two of the people who founded New England Compounding Pharmacy Inc. in 1998 ? Gregory Conigliaro and Barry Cadden ? formed Ameridose in 2006, according to documents filed with the Massachusetts Secretary of State's office. The company's website says it provides hospitals around the country with products including intravenous solutions and prefilled oral syringes of painkillers and other medications.

This summer, an organization that represents hospitals in purchasing deals with drug suppliers cancelled a contract with Ameridose over allegations that it had poor quality control practices that "rose to a level of concern for patient safety," according to a lawsuit that Ameridose filed in August.

Ameridose denies those allegations and filed a defamation and slander lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts on Aug. 8, saying Novation LLC hurt its reputation by making allegations including that there was "no separation between sterile and non-sterile products" in an Ameridose warehouse.

The lawsuit doesn't say what the products were or elaborate on how they were stored. Novation declined to release a copy of its report.

Novation, which leverages hospitals' combined buying power to get better prices on medical goods, sent two employees to audit Ameridose on July 15 and terminated its contract, the lawsuit said.

"Novation has determined that Ameridose does not meet the quality systems requirements needed to maintain a Novation agreement," Novation told its members in an Aug. 2 newsletter, according to the lawsuit.

Ameridose strongly objected to the allegations and said in its defamation lawsuit that the Novation auditors were unqualified and made false and misleading statements. Ameridose also said it had been audited in recent years by several other organizations that determined its quality control system "meets or exceeds their high quality standards." Ameridose is regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The lawsuit ended in a confidential settlement Sept. 24.

Paven, the Ameridose and New England Compounding Center spokesman, said Wednesday in his email that the "suit involved contractual commercial issues between the companies that have since been resolved."

A statement from Novation said that while it "vigorously disputed each and every claim made in the lawsuit, the parties ultimately agreed to settle the lawsuit."

Web Advertising for the Small Business | Business and Publishing

web marketing 2 Web Advertising for the Small BusinessIf you run a small business, advertising costs must be figured in as part of your overall expenses. If you have received quotes for phone directory ads, business association block ads, and mostly any other print media, these costs are quite high. So, what if your budget is small, perhaps negligible? Will you be left outside of the advertising arena or are there other avenues to help you get the word out? The answer in one word is: yes. Let?s explore ways you can ?get the word out? through online means?yes, via the internet!

The rise of the internet has spawned an entire industry with it. You may remember in the late 1990s stories of dot.com companies who made a fortune and then went bust. The ?irrational exuberance? of that era has, thankfully, passed by and in its place is a much more rational, but very lively market.

Today?s biggest players online are search engine providers led by Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. Between them, these three search engines dominate the market. Mostly everyone today searches the internet for products sold by small businesses to large corporations and these are the people you want to target. Indeed, while Christmas season sales typically increase around 4% year over year for ?brick and mortar? retailers, the internet has been seeing year over year increases of 30% and higher! No small business operator should exclude the internet when crafting a marketing plan.

Speaking of the search engines, both Google and Yahoo! have their own advertising networks. Google has its AdWords program while the Yahoo! Publisher Network is a comparable, though newer program. This is where you, as a small business owner, can do some of your advertising. By selecting the advertising plan that works for you, you can have your ads appear on web sites in your local area or across the world and be charged a small amount per click. In other words, you don?t pay for advertising unless someone clicks on your ad and goes through to your site. To keep clicks from getting out of control you determine the price per click and the amount per day, week, or month you are willing to pay. No busting of your small business budget!

Banner or text ads on select sites can also be helpful for your small business. If there is a web site you like and you suspect that a lot of your customers would frequent that site, contact the webmaster to learn what his advertising charges would be. Perhaps in exchange for submitting a few helpful articles, the webmaster would waive your advertising fee altogether. Or, at the very least, accept any other help you could provide [moderating a forum, answering questions, etc.].

Another way of getting the word out is through your own web site. No, you don?t need a web professional to establish your site, but it does help to have someone who can guide you through the set up process. At the very least a few pages is what you will need, so set up costs shouldn?t be terribly expensive. In addition, figure on paying monthly hosting and domain name fees but these expenses should be no more than $100-$125 per year. Pay a little extra for a web professional who can help you optimize your site [make it search engine friendly] and you?ll get your money back much quicker. Finally, check with your accountant for small business tax deductions.

You can also generate plenty of attention by writing articles, just like the one you are reading now. No, you don?t need to be a professional writer, but if you can clearly convey your thoughts and present a plan of action for your readers [such as: buy my product] you can get what amounts to be free advertising. How so? By submitting what you write to article submission sites for wider dissemination. By including helpful links in the author resource box you can cause search engines to make your web site much more visible as your article gets reprinted on other web sites. Furthermore, readers will perceive that you are an ?expert? and will likely inquire to find out just what you are all about. You can call this, ?small business advertising on the cheap!?

No, as a small business owner you don?t have to be strapped by high advertising costs ? who has the cash to spare? Instead, the internet offers to you several cost effective ways of informing people about who you are, what you do, and where they can find you.

Recently it has been stated that the United States has the highest number of obesity sufferers within the entire world and about 74 percent of adults are considered overweight. Before going any further let me tell you what exactly the term obesity mean, obesity is a medical condition, which simply means having too much body fat in which in turn leads to adverse effect on health, and results in reduced life expectancy and increased health problems. According to Body mass index (BMI) measurements, a person is considered overweight if his BMI is between 25 and 30 kg/m2, and considered obese when it is more than 30 kg/m2.
Psychologists give many reasons to explain the cause of being overweight, some blame the genes, some talk in lengths about compulsive eating syndrome, some state that its merely emotional eating which causes the individual to hog on excessive food in order to satisfy his urge, while others say mere absence of physical activities contribute in excessive weight gain. Urban Art | TBN Ranch

ARTIST UNKNOWN

This property is a 15 acre vacant parcel that has been for sale for years. It?s located in an unrestricted semi-rural territory of Phoenix, and just so happens to be my neighborhood. If it were my property I would call it vandalism, but it?s not, so it?s art. I wonder what it means, if anything. Was it done by one person or was it a group effort?

The wall will someday be painted, but I?ll always know there?s a mystery beneath the fresh new canvas.

Adobe Acrobat XI with tablet-friendly touchability, cloud services

Adobe has just updated its Acrobat lineup, including Pro, Standard and Reader to version 11 -- and thrown in two new programs, FormsCentral and EchoSign, to boot. The latter two are cloud-enabled services which permit "web contracting, forms creation, data collection and analysis" according to Adobe, which didn't yet specify exactly how that works. The company has also added improved tablet capability, and portable versions of Adobe Reader will now let you sign and save forms, as well as annotate and add comments. You'll also be able to modify paragraphs, images and objects by dragging them around; save PDFs as PowerPoint, Word or Excel files; and add extra security measures to documents. The upgrades will ship within 30 days and cost $449 and $299 for the Pro and Standard versions, respectively -- so if you've no time for frivolity on that new slate, check the PR for more info.
