Crafts for Less - Single Parents - Families.com

Logan and I have always loved doing crafts together, but they can get rather pricey if you?re not careful. When I got divorced I was afraid this little bonding time would be over. How could I possibly afford to get craft supplies when I could barely get food on the table? This year all those uncertainties have gone out the window. I discovered the joy of crafting for less!

Logan and I have been doing countless Christmas crafts this year. Tonight I pulled out the popsicle sticks. If you look hard enough you can usually find a box of 1000 for around $10 and it will last you through many a craft season! Tonight we used them to make snowflake ornaments. Tomorrow we?re going to work on some snowmen. Throw a paint shirt on and let the kids paint to their little heart?s content! Add a little loop of ribbon and a bow on top and you have your own custom ornament to adorn your tree for the years to come.

Some day you will look back at these times with fond memories. Your children are only little for a short while. Find something that you love to do with your children. It could be anything from going on walks, coloring in coloring books, or having a special movie night each week. Logan and I have done each of these things, but our favorite is our special craft date each week. Logan is always asking what our next project will be and I can hardly wait to hang all these memories around our home to remember this special time in our lives. When he is grown I will be able to see his tiny handprint throughout my home and look back at all the fun we?ve had over the years, just the two of us.

I almost done with my degree in Elementary Education and love every second of it. I love writing for Families.com and hope to be able to help other single moms through the difficulties of raising a child on your own.
